Yes Means Yes is a groundbreaking new look at rape, edited by writer and activist Jaclyn Friedman and Feministing.com founder Jessica Valenti. Through the anthology — and now this blog — we’re trying to move beyond “no means no” to connect the dots between the shaming and co-option of female sexuality in our culture(s) and some of the ways rape is allowed and encouraged to function.

Welcome to Project Respect

We have a right to Sexuality without Violence! Sexual violence is a reality in the lives of too many teens. We want to create a world where sexual violence doesn’t happen. We want to create a world based on respect.

We are a group of youth and adults who work together to prevent sexualized violence. We educate and empower youth to be assertive, to communicate and to be aware of the issue of sexual violence. We especially focus on preventing acquaintance assault, or “date rape” as it is commonly known. We do lots of stuff in our community to raise awareness and promote sexuality without violence.

We invite you to check out our website. The information is geared to youth 14 and up. We also encourage adults to browse this site and talk to youth about the issues here. You can find statistics on sexual violence, ways to help a friend, what to do if you are assaulted, what our youth team is doing to prevent sexual violence, and much more…

GET SOME respect in your life. Join the Respect Revolution.

We want to hear from you. Your ideas, thoughts, comments. Contact us!

As the name Rape Outcry implies, our main purpose is to bring sexual abuse out into the open. By running campaigns that depict rape for what it truly is, we are hoping to bring the public to a place of accountability. We envision a society in which rape and molestation will no longer be acceptable.

The four cornerstones of our website are:

  • To provide general information on rape and sexual abuse
  • To provide information on our organization, our campaigns and research findings
  • To provide people with a forum for expression, and
  • To acknowledge our sponsors and support
